Responsive web design has become the preferred approach for building sites and apps that provide an optimal viewing and interaction experience on any phone, tablet, desktop or wearable device. However, automatically testing these responsive sites and apps can be quite a challenge, due to the need to cover all supported layouts, their respective navigation, and visible content. In this session we will demonstrate a complete Selenium-based automated test for a popular responsive website.
We mainly imagine performance testing as an act of putting loads on our servers and measuring the response times. In the era were we have more emphasis on mobile apps and responsive web designs the front-end performance optimisations are equally important. This talk will address the challenge of building a comprehensive performance testing strategy keeping in mind both front-end and back-end considerations. We will cover basic concepts and metrics for front-end performance considerations, must have strategies and how to iteratively evolve and develop the performance strategy during the course of the project.

We all know Quality, don’t we? But can we define it in terms that others understand? Without a clear understanding and alignment on quality, and the value-network that underpins it, you will struggle to demonstrate value from your testing efforts and the tools you use to supporting them. As a result, many testing tools fail to deliver real value, or deliver insufficient value for a disproportionate, often significant, investment. This is often evident in Test Automation efforts. This talk will discuss how you can leverage this framework to make better choices about your testing tools.
Learn how Atlassian uses continuous synthetic monitoring and integrates them in all stages of the deployment pipeline to speed up and simplify automation testing. We’ll dive in the benefits of having symptom-oriented monitoring across a distributed ecosystem, quick troubleshooting flow of events with video visualisation and the experience of how this allowed us to detect incidents faster and sharper.

Future Test Automation Solutions need to have intelligence capabilities like self-configure, self-heal and self-clean. Intelligent Automation Systems will be able to configure most commonly used test cases automatically, detect any changes, conduct impact analysis and adjust test cases and if needed clean up the data after test execution. In this talk, I will share on how the development of these capabilities are approached by various vendors and how the roadmap is looking like. Also, how the organisations can get ready to take the best advantage from these emerging capabilities.
Many teams strive to achieve Continuous Deployment / Continuous Delivery and one-click deployment through automated testing, but find themselves blocked when it comes validating the appearance of generated documents. This presentation will show you to use Automated Visual Comparison tools to test different types of documents/reports/images. By integrating automated visual testing into your CI/CD pipeline you can remove the need for manual visual comparison and increase the confidence of the release and improve delivery efficiency.

Crowd-sourced testing is a relatively new testing approach where an anonymous crowd of testers take on different testing tasks for web-based and mobile applications. We have used this approach to regression test our responsive web application on desktop and mobile devices with great results: it increased our test coverage while drastically reducing the time for regression testing. This talk introduces the concept of crowd-sourced testing, talks about our journey of implementing crowd-sourced testing, and our experience after more than a year of using it.
Unfortunately for most organisations, they do not realise many of the promised benefits of investing in automation tooling, let alone delivering applications with fewer defects like they thought. Join Alan Smith from CA Technologies who will share with you the Top Five reasons as to why you are not getting to where you thought you would be with your test automation tools and how you can begin to unlock their real value for your teams
